What is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic Treatment
Your nervous system controls the function of every cell, tissue, organ, and system of your body. With that knowledge as a base, the concept of chiropractic treatment has been developed to focus on maintaining optimal function of the nervous system. Everyone realizes the significance of the brain, even though the brain is protected by the skull. However, most of us forget about the nervous system that runs from the brain to the outer parts of your body and is much more vulnerable. The spinal cord consists of 24 moving spinal bones. When these lose their normal motion or position, it can irritate and upset the healthy function of the nerves that radiate into every part of your body, undermining the function of the tissues and organs that the nerves control. This type of malfunctioning of the nervous system is known as Vertebral Subluxation Complex or Subluxation Syndrome.
Chiropractic Services: Chiropractic is the process of locating the areas of spinal joint dysfunction and correcting them in order to put the joints back into normal function. When spinal function is improved, the nervous system is restored to a healthy state. Chiropractors are trained professionals in the field of Chiropractic Care.

Common symptoms addressed by chiropractic adjustments:
• poor posture
• shoulder pain
• mild scoliosis
• sports injuries
• TMJ • whiplash
• pre-natal issues
• hip pain
• joint pain
• knee pain
• back pain
• muscle spasms
• neck pain
• sciatica
• pinched nerves

In the above-mentioned cases, surrounding areas of the body are often stressed as soft tissues attempt to compensate for spinal dysfunction, resulting in more complications. You might feel immediate relief from pain after a chiropractic adjustment, but typically the body requires a series of adjustments to sustain its return to complete health. Muscle memory is a phenomenon that can result in soft tissues remembering patterns of stress and remaining in stressed states; thus, it is helpful to provide therapy in the form of massage, stretching and/or other treatments indicated by the condition.Chiropractic care is an alternative treatment for symptoms of nervous system malfunctions, and it replaces treatment with drugs or surgery. Chiropractic care aims to identify and correct the underlying causes. This traditional approach to healing has the benefit of working with the body's natural capacity to heal itself. A Doctor of Chiropractic receives at least four years of graduate post-college education to master the art of chiropractic adjustments. After years of training and experience, the best chiropractors gain expertise at using the correct amount of force in the right direction to correct subluxations. This might require a quick movement in one case or in other instances a slow and constant pressure.

The chiropractic adjustment is truly an art but based upon proper scientific calculation. The principle of chiropractic care is to focus on reducing or removing any interference to your own inborn ability to heal. Perhaps Thomas Edison was anticipating modern chiropractic doctors when he said, "The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease."
